Hatters Drop Series Finale to FGCU

Maggie Fritts goes 2-for-2 with an RBI

DeLand, Fla. -- Florida Gulf Coast scored 13 runs in the first three innings en route to a 13-3 victory over Stetson Sunday afternoon at Patricia Wilson Field.

With the victory, the Eagles (24-27, 6-8 ASUN) won the conference series two games to one.

The Hatters (26-18, 4-11) collected seven hits in the game and scored two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth.  Linda Ross and Maggie Fritts each had two hits and an RBI to lead the offense.  Molly McLaughlin also registered an RBI single.  Ashly Smith doubled and scored, while Jessie TenBroeck stole her 47th base of the year.

Bri Innamorato homered and drove in five for FGCU.

Stetson finishes its home season with a mark of 20-13.

The Hatters will have to win at least two and possibly all three games against Jacksonville next weekend in order to qualify for the ASUN tournament.  The teams will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday and a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday at the JU Softball Complex.
