Hatters Host Pair of ASUN Matches, Honor Graham Ball This Weekend

Graham Ball will play his final home matches this weekend as Stetson men's tennis hosts NJIT and USC Upstate in a pair of important Atlantic Sun Conference contests at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

The lone senior on this year's team, Ball is spending the year serving as co-captain along with junior Loic Blanco. Under his leadership the Hatters are 12-4 overall and own a 2-1 record in ASUN play, good for second place overall.

Ball has been one of Stetson's most steady and reliable players over the last four years, piling up 45 singles victories in dual match play and twice earning second-team all-conference honors.

"Graham is irreplaceable," Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet said. "He is the most positive guy I know, and he will be dearly missed. He has spent four years putting the team always ahead of himself, and truly embracing what being a team player is all about."

Ball began his career by making the ASUN All-Freshman team in 2014, playing mostly at No. 5 singles and winning 14 matches. He got off to a blazing start, winning his first five collegiate matches and eight of his first nine overall.

He has gradually moved up the ladder and currently occupies the No. 2 spot in the lineup this season.

"I am also particularly proud of his development as a tennis player, coming from the bottom of the line-up his freshman year, to being successful at the top this season," Noblet said. "On top of that, Graham has excelled in the classroom, been a leader on campus, and more importantly matured to be a well-rounded young man. His future is bright and he will, undoubtedly, have tremendous success in his future endeavors."

With only three matches left in the ASUN season Stetson trails league-leading North Florida (3-0) by one game. The Hatters face UNF next Saturday in Jacksonville.

The Hatters host NJIT on Thursday and face USC Upstate on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
