Logan Gilbert Earns Second ASUN Weekly Honor

Stetson University sophomore right-hander Logan Gilbert was named ASUN Pitcher of the Week for his performance on Sunday against North Florida.

It is the second time Gilbert (9-0, 1.75) has been honored this year. He is the only pitcher to have earned the ASUN award more than once this season.

In his most recent outing, Gilbert posted his second complete game of the year, holding the high-powered North Florida offense to just one unearned run on five hits. He needed just 109 pitches to go the distance. He did not walk anyone and struck out six. He closed the gave by retiring the final 13 Ospreys in order and faced just five over the minimum on the day.

Overall, Gilbert leads the ASUN in wins (9), is second in ERA (1.75) and third in strikeouts (96). He has been even more dominant in ASUN play, leading the league in wins (5), ERA (0.89), strikeouts (47) and earned runs allowed (4). He ranks second in opponent batting average (.196).

Entering the final week of the season, Gilbert has a chance to join with teammates Brooks Wilson (115) and Jack Perkins (101) in the 100 strikeout club. He also has a chance to become the first Stetson pitcher with at least 10 wins in a season since Corey Kluber had 12 in 2007.

Gilbert is scheduled to take the mound again in the Hatters' regular season finale this Saturday in Nashville against the Lipscomb Bisons. Stetson enters the series just one game behind Jacksonville for the ASUN lead.

The series, from Ken Dugan Field, will open on Thursday at 7 p.m. (EDT). Game two is scheduled for Friday night at 7 p.m. with the finale set for Saturday at 2 p.m.
