Gennes, Sanchez Fall at ITF Futures

Stetson's Antoine Sanchez and Tim Gennes each suffered losses Friday in the opening round of qualifying at the ITF Futures in Niceville, Fla.

Sanchez, a sophomore, suffered a 3-6, 6-2, 0-6 loss to Pearse Dolan, a junior at Louisiana-Lafayette.

Gennes, a freshman, lost 6-2, 6-1 to 29-year old professional Alejandro Hoyos Franco.

"Antoine and Tim showed good heart in their matches," Stetson assistant coach Adam Chan said. "Both players embraced the aggressive mindset and tempo that we are trying to push, and succeeded to some extent. It wasn't enough to get their wins but progress was shown. We look forward to watching Linus play tomorrow and see what he has in store for us."

Sophomore Linus Bergevi begins play on Saturday.
