Hats Visit UCF on Sunday

Stetson men's basketball returns to action this Sunday when the Hatters visit UCF at CFE Arena in Orlando. Tip time for the ESPN3-streamed game is set for 3 p.m.
 
The Hatters (2-9) haven't played since a 79-75 loss to Marist on Dec. 8 in DeLand. Three players – Christiaan Jones (23), Kenny Aninye (15) and Clay Verk (11) – each tallied career highs in points, but the Hatters fell just short of picking up their second straight win.
 
UCF (8-2) defeated Georgia Southern, 95-88, on Tuesday. The Knights are led by senior guard B.J. Taylor, who averages a team-high 18.5 points per game.

•The Hatters and Knights first met in 1974 and later became conference foes in the TAAC and the ASUN Conference
•Stetson and UCF have met every year since 2010 after playing just once in the previous four seasons
•UCF holds a commanding 29-15 lead in the all-time series and has won 18 straight meetings dating back to 2002
•Stetson's last win in the series was an 83-65 victory on Jan. 27, 2001 in DeLand
•Sophomore forward Abayomi Iyiola needs 33 points to reach 500 for his career
•Since being inserted into the starting lineup six games ago, sophomore point guard Kenny Aninye is averaging 5.0 assists per game. His season average of 4.1 assists per game ranks second in the ASUN Conference.
