Hatters Ranked 15th in AVCA Beach Preseason Poll

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson beach volleyball team is ranked 15th in the nation in the 2018 AVCA Beach Volleyball Preseason Poll, the organization announced on Monday.

In 2017, the Hatters (20-13) won their third straight ASUN regular season title with a perfect 10-0 record, they went 3-0 to win their third ASUN Championship in the past four years, and they were ranked in the AVCA Top 15 Beach Poll all season long.

Stetson will play 35 regular season dual matches in 2018, including nine matches against other Top 20 opponents.  It is the third consecutive year Stetson is ranked in the preseason poll.

Stetson welcomes back 11 returners while adding five newcomers to the squad. Head Coach Kristina Hernandez is in her fifth season.

The Hatters open the season this weekend by hosting No. 4 Florida State, No. 8 South Carolina, No. 12 Georgia State, No. 16 Florida Atlantic, and Eckerd at the Stetson Spring Fling.  Admission is free to all home matches, which are played on campus at the Cooper Beach Volleyball courts on E. Minnesota Ave.
