Hatters Stay Hot, Thump Lipscomb 91-71 on Senior Night

Hatters Hit a Season-High 12 3-Pointers

DeLand, Fla. -- The Hatters have picked a real good time to start clicking on offense.

One game after scoring 96 points against Kennesaw State, Stetson topped 90 again in a 91-71 victory over Lipscomb Monday night at the Edmunds Center.

The Hatters (17-12, 8-5 ASUN) hit a season-high 12 3-pointers and shot 55 percent from the floor to clinch the No. 3 seed for the ASUN Championship next month.

"It was probably our best offensive game of the year," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "I thought we moved the ball well. We had open shots, but we kicked it one more time for even better shots.  Both teams played well offensively.   It was a really fun game to watch."

McKenna Beach led the way, tying a career-high with 22 points, adding seven assists, five steals and three blocks. She hit four three pointers and was 7-for-12 from the floor.

The only thing Beach didn't do Monday was make her free throws.

"She was just too wide open on the free throw line," Bria said.

For the second straight game, Sydney Wagner nailed four 3-pointers and finished with 19 points.  Michelle Pruitt (15), Brittney Chambers (13), and Shania Meertens (12) also scored in double figures.  Meertens pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds for her first career double-double.

Jordan Tully added five assists and three blocks, while Megan Vincent grabbed six boards.

The Hatters recorded 24 assists as a team and outrebounded Lipscomb 46-26.

"We haven't really been an offensive team all season, but the last two games we have broken out," Beach said.  "Everyone is contributing now, and that's the key to having high-scoring games."

Stetson led 50-40 at the half and 70-58 after 3, but a quick start to the fourth quarter helped put the game out of reach.

Lipscomb also shot very well, hitting 11 3-pointers and shooting 39.7 percent from the floor.  Loren Cagle led the Lady Bisons (10-17, 6-7) with 23 points.

Stetson will look to stay hot when it hosts FGCU at 1 p.m. Saturday for the regular season finale.
