Hatters Fall in First Round of the WBI

Mobile, Ala. -- In a low-scoring affair, Stetson fell 49-33 to South Alabama in the first round of the WBI Thursday night at the Mitchell Center.

The Jaguars (20-12) advance to host Furman in the second round of the tournament, while the Hatters finish the 2017-18 season with a record of 17-15.

Senior Brittney Chambers led the way with nine points, surpassing the career 900-point mark in her final game as a Hatter. She finished the season with 518 points, marking the seventh-highest single-season total in school history.

McKenna Beach scored four points and pulled down 12 rebounds while playing all 40 minutes. She set the school single-season record for most minutes played with 1180.

Stetson shot just 28 percent (14-50) while South Alabama shot 37 percent (20-54). It was the third time this season the Hatters held an opponent under 50 points.

In addition to Chambers, it was also the final game and season for seniors Re'Nique Francis and Johanna McMillan.
