Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Athletic Communications

Hatters Rally for 4-3 Win Over LIU Brooklyn

Brooke Milner and Alexe Viaud each won three-set thrillers as Stetson women's tennis rallied for a 4-3 win over visiting LIU Brooklyn, Friday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
The Hatters (8-5) trailed 1-0 after nearly getting swept in doubles play. The Blackbirds (8-2) won 6-0 at No. 2 and 6-2 at No. 3 to clinch the point.
 
LIU then got a win at No. 1 singles for a 2-0 lead. But Lucie Renault put the Hatters on the board with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3, and Danielle Peele tied the match with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 5.
 
The Blackbirds took a 3-2 lead with a victory at No. 4, but Milner rallied to win a second-set tiebreaker streaked to a 6-3 triumph in the third set, tying the match. That left it up to Viaud, who also won a tiebreaker in the second set. She then put the match away with a 6-2 win in the third.
 
Stetson closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule when they host Hofstra, 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 20. ASUN Conference play begins March 24 vs. North Florida.
