Hatters Drop a Pair at Kennesaw State

Danielle Diaz drives in team's lone run

Kennesaw, Ga. -- On a chilly night in northern Georgia, Stetson managed just one run in a doubleheader setback to the Kennesaw State Owls at Bailey Park.

KSU (27-13) won 4-1 in the opener and 8-0 in five innings in the nightcap to improve to 7-1 in ASUN play.  The Hatters (22-16) fell to 2-6.

Stetson's lone run came in the fifth inning of Game 1.  Devin Lewis led off the frame with a double, pinch-runner Talli Sharp moved to third on a single by Maggie Fritts and scored on a sacrifice fly by Danielle Diaz.

That would be the only run allowed by KSU pitching.  Alley Cutting fanned 10 in seven innings in Game 1 and Abigail Green struck out 11 in Game 2.

Lizzie Shubert collected two hits on the day to lead the Hatters.  Game time temperatures were in the 40s.

Stetson will look to repeat its Game 3 triumphs in each of its first two ASUN series this season.  The teams will play the series finale at 1 p.m. Sunday.
