Hatters Announce 2018 Recruiting Class

Stetson men's soccer head coach Cristian Neagu announced today the addition of 11 student-athletes for the upcoming season, which begins Aug. 24.
 
"We are excited to welcome the 2018 class into our program," Neagu said of his first Stetson recruiting class. "Having started the job in January, we had a short window to get to right guys in. I feel that we've got some exciting prospects and a good balance of incoming/transfer players.
 
"We have a big class; our returning players will play an important role in helping them adjust to our culture. How quick they adjust will determine how successful they will be in our program."
 
Included in the recruiting class are Sebastian Chalbaud (Sevilla, Spain/St. Benedict's Prep); Erwan Colas (Chartres, France); Tim Gyenis (Tampa, Fla./Wright State/Jesuit HS); Andy Henderson (Jacksonville, Fla./Oakleaf HS); Ryan Hosier (Fleming Island, Fla./Fleming Island HS); Owen Jack (Cape Coral, Fla./Oasis HS); Deian Petrov (Stuart, Fla./Seton Hall/The Pines School); Guilherme Pinheiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil/IMG Academy); Lewis Scattergood (Nottinghamshire, England/Outwood Academy Valley); William Suauat (Nice, France); and Alex Turner (Sarasota, Fla./Mercer/Cardinal Mooney HS).

2018 graduate of St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, N.J. … 2017-18 Gatorade Player of the Year for New Jersey … led the Gray Bees to a 19-0 record and Prep A state championship as a senior ... scored 12 goals and added nine assists … named first-team All-American by TopDrawerSoccer.com … member of Venezuela's U-17 national team … scored a goal against Argentina in the U-17 South American tournament.
 



 
Erwan Colas * F * Chartres, France14044
National level player with Chartres Horizon … scored 17 goals with nine assists this season … also plays futsal … was a member of the French U19 Futsal team.






 
Tim Gyenis * GK * Tampa, Fla. (Jesuit HS/Wright State)14050
Spent his freshman season at Wright State but did not see any action with the Raiders … 2017 graduate of Tampa Jesuit High School … named All-State as a senior Hillsborough County MVP and Star Player by the Tampa Bay Times … made 191 combined saves as a junior and senior in 4,198 total minutes … also had 23 shutouts with a 0.95 goals-against average during that time … helped Jesuit to a regional championship and an appearance in the state tournament semifinals … played club soccer for Tampa Bay United, Florida Fire Juniors and Louisiana Fire Juniors while training with Region 3 ODP.
 

 
Andy Henderson * MF/F * Jacksonville, Fla. (Oakleaf HS)14042
2018 graduate of Oakleaf High School in Orange Park, Fla. … two-time All-State selection, four-time all-county pick … county player of the year as a senior after scoring 34 goals and adding 15 assists … finished career with 83 goals and 68 assists … helped lead Oakleaf to a district championship as a senior … played club soccer with Clay County Soccer Club.
 



 
Ryan Hosier * MF/D * Fleming Island, Fla. (Fleming Island HS)14048
2018 graduate of Fleming Island High School … helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 20-1-4 record as a senior … all-county selection … played club soccer for Florida Elite Soccer Academy ECNL.






 
Owen Jack * GK * Cape Coral, Fla. (Oasis HS)14047
2018 graduate of Oasis High School in Cape Coral, Fla. … named first-team all-area as a senior, when he was also named Team MVP … holds school records for career saves and shutouts … three-year captain.
 





 
Deian Petrov * D * Stuart, Fla. (The Pines School/Seton Hall)14043
Played his freshman season at Seton Hall … appeared in and started four games for the Pirates … played 224 minutes with a high of 76 agaisnt Lehigh … 2017 graduate of The Pines School in Hobe Sound, Fla. … team captain … two-time first-team all-area selection … scored 64 goals and added 34 assists during his career … had 28 goals as a senior … played club soccer with FC Florida.

2018 graduate of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. … team captain for three seasons … two-time Team MVP … also named Most Improved.






 
Lewis Scattergood * F * Nottinghamshire, England (Outwood Academy Valley)14046
Spent the last two seasons playing with the Doncaster Rovers youth team … played 55 minutes in his first-team debut with the Rovers in the Checkatrade trophy … graduated from Outwood Academy Valley in Worksop, Nottinghamshire.

Played for club team OGC Nice since 2002 … member of the French U17, U19 and senior teams. 
 






 
Alex Turner * F * Sarasota, Fla. (Cardinal Mooney/Mercer)14041
Played one season at Mercer University in Macon, Ga. … appeared in four games and played 87 minutes … took two shots … 2017 graduate of Cardinal Mooney in Sarasota, Fla. … played club soccer with FC Florida Elite and Braden River Rage … helped lead Cardinal Mooney to a pair of district championships and a regional runner-up finish … twice named Florida 2A player of the year by Florida Dairy Farmers … holds Cardinal Mooney record goals in a season (48) and career (127).
