In need of a big homestand, the Hatters delivered two of their best games of the year, defeating NJIT and Lipscomb by a combined 53 points this last week at the Edmunds Center.

Stetson played well on both ends of the court and got contributions throughout the lineup.  The offense was clicking, the defense played with energy, and the team was aggressive on the boards.

The Hatters also got out to a quick start in each game, including a 17-5 first quarter effort against Lipscomb Saturday.

"Typically we haven't started well, but I think now that they are starting to play together a little more, it's been better," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said after the game.  "I am always worried about our start, and I am always worried about our halftime start.  Those are (two areas where) we have tried to lock in and do a better job."

The Hatters attacked the basket and executed on offense, compiling 150 points in the two games combined.  Stetson shot nearly 50 percent from the floor each game and received double-figure scoring totals from four different players on Saturday.

"I think we are playing great as of late," senior McKenna Beach said.  "We have been playing a lot better together.  (Saturday) we had well over 20 assists, so it shows we are moving the ball and helping each other out."

Stetson did record a season-high 27 assists against Lipscomb as six different players registered at least three helpers.  Freshman Mackenzie Davis had 12 assists on the week, and was named ASUN Freshman of the Week on Monday.

"I feel like we have a lot more flow to the offense," Davis said.  "We know when to do certain things and when not to."

Defensively, Stetson held both NJIT and Lipscomb to below 50 points.  The Hatters pulled down 34 rebounds against the Highlanders and a season-high 50 boards against the Bisons.  The two victories moved the Hatters into third place in the ASUN standings.

"I think we still need to prove that we can be consistent, and I don't think we have done that yet," Bria said.  "It's good that we have put back-to-back games together, but I wouldn't exactly call us consistent, yet. I think we have to put a string of games together before I can say we are clicking and playing well."

Stetson will look to stay hot on the road when the team visits Jacksonville Tuesday night.  The Hatters (9-11, 4-2 ASUN) and Dolphins (11-9, 4-3) will tip-off at 7 p.m. at Swisher Gym.  Jacksonville is coming off a 85-75 overtime loss to Liberty on Saturday.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.  Live stats, the Stetson women's basketball twitter feed, and the HatCheck text messaging system will provide updates as well.
