Hatters Fall Short at Jacksonville

Jacksonville's JD Notae scored a game-high 16 points as the Dolphins downed Stetson, 72-57, in ASUN Conference action on Wednesday at Swisher Gym in Jacksonville, Fla.

Notae was one of three Dolphins (10-13 overall, 3-5 ASUN) to reach double digits. The sophomore guard was just 5 of 15 from the field but four of his field goals were from beyond the 3-point arc.

Stetson (4-19, 0-8) started strong, leading 14-10 with 14:25 left in the half after Leo Goodman and Abayomi Iyiola combined to score 8 straight points.

But Jacksonville responded with a 13-0 run over the next 3:26, taking a 23-14 lead. Stetson never got closer than 3 points the rest of the half as the Hatters went the final 5:25 without scoring and trailed 37-24 at halftime.

In the second half, Stetson shot just 30 percent and never got any closer than nine points.

No Hatters scored in double figures. Keith Matthews led Stetson with 9 points while Kenny Aninye and Leo Goodman each scored 8. In all, nine different players scored for Stetson.

Jalyn Hinton (12) and David Bell (11) were the other double figure scorers for Jacksonville.
