Hatters Edged at Bethune-Cookman

Stetson men's tennis suffered a 4-3 loss to Bethune-Cookman, Wednesday at City Island Tennis Center in Daytona Beach.

The Hatters (1-2) opened play by winning the doubles point. Bethune-Cookman was unable to field a team at No. 3 doubles, so the Hatters took the point when the No. 2 tandem of Antoine Sanchez & Colter DeCoste secured a 6-1 victory.

Singles weren't as kind to the Hatters as freshmen Clement Hamel and Christian Mills were the only Hatters to emerge victorious.

Hamel picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles, while Mills earned a victory by forfeit on Court 6.

"We started off well yesterday gaining the doubles point," assistant coach Adam Chan said. "The coaching staff is happy to see the players putting out a better brand of doubles. However we are still looking to improve in our next match and bounce back."

Next up for the Hatters is a matchup with Florida A&M, 2 p.m., Saturday at Mandy Stoll tennis Center.
