Sagerer Breaks Blocks Record as Hatters Cruise Past Central State

Sagerer Scores a Career-High 25 Points

DeLand, Fla. -- Senior Sarah Sagerer recorded a double-double and set the school all-time blocks record as Stetson rolled to an 81-51 victory over visiting Central State Friday night at the Edmunds Center.

Sagerer scored a career-high 25 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and recorded her 209th block late in the first half to surpass Amber Porter's previous school-mark of 208.

"It's just great," Sagerer said about breaking the record.  "I am so thankful for this opportunity from Stetson and Coach Bria, and getting a chance to compete every day. I am just thankful for my teammates and my coaches pushing me to get better."

McKenna Beach flirted with a triple double, scoring 18 points with nine rebounds and eight assists.  The senior point guard helped Stetson shoot 48.5 percent from the floor and collect a season-high 24 assists as a team.

"I think we shared the ball really well," Beach said.  "We got to run a lot of offensive sets and work on being patient, which is good.  We also got to run a lot in transition, which is what we have been trying to do, and I think we did well with that tonight."

Stetson scored a season-high 81 points Friday in their final contest before the start of conference play.  The Hatters (5-9) have won four of their last five games after starting the season 1-8.

"I think we have improved in a lot of areas we needed to," head coach Lynn Bria said.  "I think the offensive flow is better.  I thought we turned the ball over a little too much today, but I thought the second half our defense was really good.  Overall, I think we have improved in every area, but I still think we are not as consistent as we need to be for 40 minutes."

Jon'Nita Henry also scored in double figures for the Hatters with 12 points, while Kendall Lentz added a career-high eight points.  Rosalee Nicholson scored her first two career points as well.

Jaeda Davis led Central State (5-9) with 18 points.

Stetson will open ASUN play Tuesday night at home against Liberty.
