The Stetson Hatters will return from a seven-day break to host the Jacksonville Dolphins Tuesday night at the Edmunds Center.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN+.

Winners of five in a row and 11 out of 14, the Hatters have not played since defeating Liberty 68-56 last Tuesday in Lynchburg, Va.  Stetson was enjoyed a rare Saturday off while the rest of the league was in action.  With the team playing well over the past couple of weeks, was it a good time for the Hatters to have a bye?

"I think the break has been good for us, considering we have a lot of people playing a lot of minutes," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "It gives us a chance to restart."

One Hatter playing heavy minutes of late is McKenna Beach. The senior has played three consecutive complete games and averages nearly 36 minutes-per-contest on the season.  She has been phenomenal on the court, averaging 18.0 ppg in conference play. That includes a triple-double performance vs. Lipscomb and a 37-point game vs. Kennesaw State.

Megan Vincent has also stepped up of late as the Hatter sophomore scored a career-high 22 points on 9-for-10 shooting at Liberty.  She is averaging 13.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg, and is shooting .667 from the floor over her past four games.

Stetson (12-11, 7-2) and Jacksonville (12-12, 5-6) will be meeting for the second time in 14 days.  The Hatters defeated the Dolphins 69-56 on Jan. 29 in Jacksonville behind a 17-point outing from Day'Neshia Banks.  However, JU outrebounded Stetson 45-32.

"They are obviously the best rebounding team in our conference, so we have to limit their offensive possessions to have a chance to win," Bria said. "Everybody is going to have to be responsible for boxing out.  I also think we have to take care of the basketball.  They are going to throw a lot of different things at us, so we just have to be ready."

Offensively, Bria says the Hatters need to continue to play well and execute.  Stetson is averaging 72.6 ppg and shooting .475 as a team during the five-game win streak.  In addition, Addi Walters has hit 17 3-pointers and Mackenzie Davis has 24 assists.

With a win on Tuesday, Stetson would officially clinch a spot in the ASUN Championship.

"When we were 1-8, I told people there was something about this team I like," Bria said after the Liberty game.  "You saw where they would keep fighting.  I just think we have gotten better.  I think our nonconference schedule prepared us for a lot of this because we played such good teams.  I think they have been through a lot of adversity with the injuries we've had.  When you go through things like that, there is just a bond there.  We still have a ways to go, there are a lot of games left, but if we can stay healthy and keep playing together and getting better, I really like what we are doing right now."

Tuesday will be Stetson's annual cancer awareness game as all fans in attendance will receive a free pink T-shirt. Tickets start at just $7 for general admission and can be purchased online or at the Edmunds Center box office.  Stetson students, faculty and staff are admitted free with an ID.

In addition to the ESPN+ broadcast, live stats, the Stetson women's basketball twitter feed, and the HatCheck text messaging service will provide live updates as well.
