It's no secret the Stetson Hatters have had their share of injuries this season, from Kennedi Colclough in game 1 to Sarah Sagerer midseason and most recently to McKenna Beach.  Those three players alone have accounted for over 2,400 career points scored.

Instead of allowing those setbacks to ruin the season, the Hatters have executed a "next man up" approach that has completely turned the year upside down.

"I just think everyone is stepping up," freshman Mackenzie Davis said.  "We have lost some very big role players on the team, and so everyone is trying to step up and do more."

Winners of 14 of their last 18 games, the Hatters (15-12, 10-3 ASUN) currently find themselves with a two-game lead for second place in the ASUN standings.  Of Stetson's 10 conference wins, five have involved second-half rallies, including Saturday's 69-59 win over North Alabama.  Those key moments of perseverance have been the result of everyone coming together.

"When (North Alabama) started to come back on us, we huddled and talked about getting out on their shooters and shutting down the paint, and we continued to get stops for the rest of the game," Davis said.  "We really feel each other's energy (when we huddle). It just gives us a little boost and gets us back on track."

With the injury to Beach, Davis has had some big shoes to fill. The Hatter freshman has delivered two strong performances as the team's starting point guard, helping lead Stetson to wins over NJIT and UNA.  She was named ASUN Freshman of the Week for the third time on Monday.

"I am just trying to take care of the ball and do the best impression of McKenna that I can," Davis said.  "It definitely gives me a big boost of confidence knowing I can step in and be a more impactful player."

Davis scored a career-high 14 points against the Lions, helping bolster a scoring effort led by Megan Vincent (21) and Day'Neshia Banks (17).  The Hatters also got clutch baskets down the stretch from Bianca Fizouaty, whose breakaway lay-up gave Stetson a five-point lead, and Jon'Nita Henry, who scored with a minute left to put Stetson up six.

"They are resilient," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said after the game.  "They have a spirit about them that I have seen right from the start of the year. They are a close group, they get along well.  I think when you like each other and you play together, a lot of good things can happen."

Stetson will host UNF at 7 p.m. Wednesday night with a chance to clinch the No. 2 seed for the ASUN Championship.  With a win over the Ospreys, the Hatters would secure home court advantage through at least the semifinals.

The Ospreys (12-13, 7-7) defeated the Hatters 71-57 earlier this season in Jacksonville, accounting for one of Stetson's three ASUN losses.

Wednesday will be Senior Night and Stetson will honor Beach and Sagerer prior to the game.

Tickets start at just $7 for general admission and can be purchased online or at the Edmunds Center box office.  Stetson students, faculty and staff are admitted free with an ID.

In addition to the ESPN+ broadcast, live stats, the Stetson women's basketball twitter feed, and the HatCheck text messaging service will provide live updates as well.
