Hatters Fall to Mercer

Mercer defeated Stetson, 5-2, in men's tennis on Saturday afternoon at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center in DeLand.

Playing at home for the first time in exactly a month, the Hatters (6-6) struggled against the Bears (4-8). Stetson dropped the doubles point and won just twice in singles.

Down 1-0 after doubles play, Stetson evened the score when Christian Mills captured a 6-1, 6-4 win on Court 5. Tim Gennes gave the Hatters a 2-1 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 victory on Court 3, but it was all downhill from there for Stetson.

Mercer earned straight set wins on Courts 6 & 4 for a 3-2 lead, and the Bears clinched the team victory with a three-set win on Court 1.

The Hatters have little time to rest as they're back at it again on Sunday when they host Appalachian State at 2 p.m.
