Hatters Fall to USF in WNIT First Round

McKenna Beach records her 500th career rebound

Tampa, Fla. -- Stetson's 2018-19 season and the standout careers of McKenna Beach and Sarah Sagerer officially came to end Thursday as USF defeated the Hatters 84-50 in the first round of the WNIT.

The Bulls (19-15) hit 12 3-pointers and shot 57 percent from the arc to advance to face the James Madison - North Carolina A&T winner in the second round.

Day'Neshia Banks led Stetson with 14 points while Beach scored 13. She recorded her 500th career rebound late in the fourth quarter.

After a 1-8 start to the season, Stetson (16-16) won 15 of its last 23 games and finished second in the ASUN with an 11-5 league record. The Hatters advanced to the postseason for the ninth consecutive year.

Beach completed her phenomenal career with 126 games played and nearly 4000 minutes logged on the court.  She tallied 1131 career points, with 500 rebounds, 393 assists and 204 steals.

All told, Beach scored in double figures 54 times, collected on triple double and scored a career-best 37 points against Kennesaw State earlier this season.

She finishes her career among the school all-time leaders in points (18th), 3-point field goals (7th), free throws (7th), free throw pct. (4th), assists (8th), steals (8th), games played (6th), and minutes played (4th).  She is just the fourth player in school history with over 1000 points, 500 rebounds and 200 steals.

Sarah Sagerer also officially closes her career as the school's all-time leader in blocked shots with 213.  She currently ranks seventh in school history in rebounds (717) and scored 953 career points in her 108 games.  She had 45 games scoring in double figures with 17 double-double performances.  

Both Beach and Sagerer were instrumental in Stetson's 2017 ASUN regular season championship and 26-win season.

Stetson hit 213 3-pointers this season, the second-highest team total in school history.   Megan Vincent set the single-season school record for highest field goal pct. (.652).
