Hatters Fall in ASUN Tournament Quarters

Stetson women's tennis saw its season come to an end on Thursday as the fifth-seeded Hatters suffered a 4-0 loss to fourth seed FGCU in the ASUN Tournament quarterfinals at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

The Hatters close out the 2019 season with a 12-9 overall record. FGCU (10-9) advances to the semifinals on Friday where they will face either NJIT or Lipscomb.

Despite defeating the Eagles during the regular season, the Hatters had no answer for FGCU on Thursday.

The Eagles started play by winning the doubles point, getting victories on Courts 2 & 3. Up 1-0, FGCU picked up singles wins on Courts 3, 1 and 5 en route to the shutout win.

Thursday marked the final match in the career of Stetson senior Alexe Viaud, who was leading 5-2 in the third set when play was halted.
