Northside Christian to Induct Shelburne into HOF

Stetson University women's golf coach Danielle Shelburne will return to the place where her career in athletics started next week when she gets inducted into the Northside Christian School Athletics Hall of Fame.

Shelburne, who just completed her second full season leading the Hatters' women's golf program, was a two-sport star at Northside Christian before becoming a member of the Stetson women's golf program in the fall of 2006.

During her prep career she was a two-time Pinellas County Player of the Year as a golfer as selected by the St. Petersburg Times. She was named to the All-Pinellas County first team five times.

During her prep golf career, she led her team to a class 1A state title in 2004. Individually, she finished third in the state tournament as an individual in both 2004 and 2005.

As good as she was as a golfer, and she was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015 for her abilities on the links, Shelburne may have been an even better basketball player.

She was a three-time All-County selection who scored 1,281 career points while also grabbing 703 rebounds and a school record 263 career steals. She was the first player, male or female, to make more than 200 three-pointers in her career, setting the school record at 203.

That mark was later broken by her younger sister, Morgan, who had 236 three-pointers in her career. That mark was bested again by the youngest Jackson sister, Ryanne, who made 266 threes in her prep career.

Danielle was named the Outstanding Senior Athlete at Northside in 2006. Her athletic accomplishments were joined by her academic work, which helped her earn membership in the National Honor Society.

The Northside Christian School Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 16.
