Hatters, Ospreys Clash Thursday in Jacksonville

Locked in a three-way tie for first place, Stetson opens a stretch of three straight games on the road when the Hatters visit ASUN Conference co-leader North Florida, 7 p.m., Thursday, in Jacksonville. The can be seen on ESPN+.

Stetson (11-11 overall, 5-2 ASUN) and North Florida (12-10, 5-2) are tied atop the ASUN standings along with Liberty after a wild week turned the ASUN on its head.

The Hatters swept a home weekend for the first time in two seasons with a pair of come-from-behind victories, winning 65-64 against NJIT on Thursday, and 48-43 against Liberty on Saturday. Stetson trailed by 11 points at halftime in both games, but allowed just 42 points combined in the second half to get the wins.

Freshman Rob Perry was named ASUN Newcomer of the Week for the third time this season after averaging 18 points and hitting the go-ahead basket in each game.

As for UNF, they had a mixed bag last week. The Ospreys started by handing Liberty its first conference loss of the season, but responded to that win with a loss at Lipscomb. UNF does, however, lead the nation in 3-pointers made per game (12.0).

About the Game
•Stetson looks to match its longest winning streak in seven years when the Hatters visit North Florida on Thursday. Stetson has won four straight games and 5 of its last 6 entering Thursday.
•The Hatters are in a 3-way tie at the top of the ASUN standings, along with North Florida and Liberty
•Stetson freshman Rob Perry and UNF freshman Emmanuel Adedoyin were teammates at Orlando's Oak Ridge High School
•Stetson is 6-6 this season away from home, and has won its last four road games

Under the Hat
•Stetson enters the weekend in a three-way tie for first place in the ASUN standings with Liberty and North Florida. The Hatters have never finished higher than third in regular-season play, but have done so seven times (2013, 2008, 2001, 1995, 1994, 1989, 1987).
•ESPN Bracketology's Joe Lunardi has Stetson listed as a No. 16 seed in his latest NCAA Tournament projections. He has the Hatters in as the ASUN's automatic qualifier, with an opening round game in Dayton.
•After struggling at home for much of the season, the Hatters swept last week's home stand against NJIT & Liberty. It was the first home ASUN sweep for the Hatters since the opening weekend of the 2017-18 conference season.
•How improbable was Stetson's 65-64 win over NJIT last Thursday night? With 5:53 to play, the Highlanders had a 94.5-percent win probability according to ESPN Gamecast. The Hatters came into the game 0-10 when trailing with 5 minutes to play, and 0-9 when trailing with 2 minutes left.
•Rob Perry (15.8) and Mahamadou Diawara (13.2) continue to be the highest-scoring freshman tandem in the ASUN Conference at a combined 29.0 points per game. Perry is 9th nationally among all freshmen, and his 34 points at Western Illinois on Nov. 9 is the 3rd-best single-game effort by a freshman this season.
•The Hatters made some history on Dec. 17 when five freshmen (Diawara, Ivery, Kabimba, Panzo, Perry) were in the starting lineup at UNC Asheville, for what's believed to be the first time in program history. The Hatters regularly started four freshmen during the 2010-11 season but research has not yet turned up another all-freshman starting five.
