Non-conference play is in the books, and conference play is about to get underway.

Stetson begins its 34th season of ASUN action Saturday afternoon when the Hatters visit the Kennesaw State Owls.  Tip-off at the KSU Convocation Center is set for 2 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN+.

The Hatters enter the conferene campaign with a 6-7 overall record.  Stetson neither won nor lost more than two in row during the first 13 games of the season.

"I definitely think we made some progress in some areas," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said, "but I think there are other things that are just glaring where we have to get better.  We have to be a better rebounding team, and I think we have to get healthy.  We still have a lot people who are in-and-out, and I think that's hurt us a bit in terms of getting into a flow."

Day'Neshia Banks has consistently been the team's top performer this season.  The junior forward is averaging 16.8 ppg and 9.1 rpg, both of which rank second in the league.  She has scored in double figures 12 times and is coming off a career-high 32-point effort against Holy Cross.

"I am most impressed with how far Day Day has come and the progress of Jamiya, Kimia and Maddie," Bria said.  "I think those three freshmen have really come around, and we are asking them to play a lot.  I also think Tonysha has had two really good games the last two games, but overall I think we just have to continue to get better."

Last season, Stetson went 11-5 in conference play and finished second in the league.  The Hatters dropped their ASUN quarterfinal game against Kennesaw State and now have a rematch with the Owls to open the 2019-20 conference slate.

KSU is 6-5 overall and led by Alexis Poole (15.3 ppg, 8.5 rpg).  The Hatters lead the all-time series 28-5.

Fun in the ASUN
Stetson has had nine straight winning seasons in conference play. The Hatters are 107-39 (.733) since the start of the 2010-11 season. The Hatters won the ASUN regular season title in 2016-17 with a record of 13-1.

Block Party
Megan Vincent set the single-game school record with nine blocked shots vs. Canisius on Dec. 19.  She has 16 blocks in her last three games and 36 blocks on the season, good for 11th overall in the NCAA. In addition, Vincent now ranks third in school history and 15th in ASUN history with 149 career blocked shots.

December to Remember
In the month of December, Day'Neshia Banks averaged 18.2 points and 10.8 rebounds-per-game and shot 52 percent from the floor. She had double-doubles in five of the six games, including the past three in a row.
