During team practices, Stetson head coach Lynn Bria will often run a "pressure free throw" drill where she selects a player to shoot a "one-and-one" situation.  With the entire team watching from the baseline, if the player misses either attempt, everyone runs a down-and-back.

Freshman Jamiya Turner has been selected to shoot with more frequency of late, and that practice helped give her the confidence Saturday to knock down four late game free throws in Stetson's 67-61 win at Kennesaw State.

"We have worked hard on her hitting free throws down the stretch, and the thing I will say about her is that she has the courage to step up there and shoot them," Bria said. "That's a credit to her.  She wants to step up there and get better."

Turner is also stepping up in other areas as well.  As the team's primary point guard the past three games, Turner has increased her offensive production, scoring a season-high 14 points against the Owls on Saturday.  She has also cut down on her turnover totals, and she is contributing blocks and steals on the defensive end as well.

"I just like her athleticism, her size, and that she can score the ball different ways," Bria said.  "She is a really good player for us defensively as well because of her size.  She can guard, she gets her hands up, she's hard to score over.  She still makes some freshman mistakes, but overall, she is playing more like a sophomore. What I see in her is courage.  When she messes up, she just keeps playing, and that's what you have to do to be a really good player."

Turner and the Hatters will look for a 2-0 start in conference play when Stetson hosts Lipscomb Monday night at the Edmunds Center.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN+.

Lipscomb is coming off a 82-56 loss at FGCU on Saturday.  Jalyn Holcolmb leads the Lady Bisons in scoring (13.4 ppg).

Stetson leads the all-time series 26-7 vs. Lipscomb. The Hatters have won 18 straight games in the series.

Tickets
Tickets start at just $7 for general admission and can be purchased online or at the Edmunds Center box office.  Stetson students, faculty and staff are admitted free with an ID.  One ticket provides admission to both games on Thursday and Friday.

Carter Stepping Up
Freshman guard Kimia Carter has been red-hot of late.  In the past five games, Carter is averaging 12.2 points and 4.2 rebounds-per-game. She is shooting 42 percent from the floor and 50 percent (6-for-12) from the arc.  She registered career-highs of 18 points and nine rebounds against KSU on Saturday.

Solid Return
Redshirt junior Kennedi Colclough returned to the lineup Saturday with an 11-point, seven-rebound effort against the Owls.  Her basket with 4:05 to play help put Stetson in the lead for good.

Top 10 in Blocks
After adding five more blocks on Saturday, Stetson now ranks ninth in the NCAA with 77 blocks on the season.

Fun in the ASUN
Stetson has had nine straight winning seasons in conference play. The Hatters are 108-39 (.735) since the start of the 2010-11 season. Stetson won the ASUN regular season title in 2016-17 with a record of 13-1.

Up Next
Stetson hosts No. 25 FGCU at 1 p.m. Saturday.
