Hatters Open 2020-21 Season Monday

After several delays due to the pandemic, Stetson men's basketball finally opens the 2020-21 season, 7 p.m., Monday, when the Hatters welcome Emmanuel (Ga.) College to Edmunds Center. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Monday's game is the first of 24 games currently scheduled in the COVID-shortened season. After Monday, Stetson won't return home until Dec. 10.

Second-year head coach Donnie Jones returns four starters from last year, including preseason ASUN all-conference selections Rob Perry and Mahamdou Diawara. The sophomore duo combined to average 27.6 points and grab 11.6 rebounds a year ago. Perry led the Hatters in scoring (15.1) and topped the ASUN in 3-pint percentage (.426) while Diawara was among the top big men in the league with a team-best 6.5 rebounds per game.

For Emmanuel, Monday's game will also serve as their season opener. An NCAA Division II program located in Franklin Springs, Ga., the Lions are members of Conference Carolinas.
