Hatters Host Carver College on Saturday

Stetson men's basketball closes out 2020 when the Hatters host Carver College, 6 p.m., Saturday at Edmunds Center. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.

The Hatters (1-4) are seeking their second straight victory after Tuesday's impressive 78-69 win against Florida Atlantic. Stetson shot nearly 55 percent from the field against FAU, including a 12 for 24 effort from 3-point range.

Sophomore guard Rob Perry led the Hatters with 19 points, while senior guard Christiaan Jones added a season-high 17. Sophomore big man Mahamadou Diawara added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots as Stetson led from start to finish.

Carver College enters play looking for its first win of the season. The Cougars play at Georgia State on Friday.

News & Notes
•In Tuesday's triumph, the Hatters established season highs for points (78), field-goal percentage (.547), 3-pointers made (12), and fewest points allowed by a Division I opponent.
•Stetson's 12 3-pointers against FAU were not only a season-high, but they were the most for the Hatters in one game since also sinking 12 in a 77-63 loss at Longwood on Dec. 21, 2018.
•Mahamadou Diawara and Chase Johnston are leading the ASUN in two statistical categories as we near the end of 2020. Diawara currently leads in blocks per game (1.6), while Johnston tops the circuit in 3-pointers per game (3.2).
•Carver College, or Carver Bible College as it is also known, is located in Atlanta, Ga. The Cougars are members of the National Christian College Athletic Association.
•The Cougars have taken full advantage of the COVID-impacted basketball season, scheduling a total of 12 games with Division I opposition to this point. The game against the Hatters will be Carver's 13th such contest, and they still have a game with Troy on Dec. 28. The ambitious schedule, however, has not been kind to the Cougars, as they are 0-11 against Division I competition and 0-14 overall entering a Friday afternoon game against Georgia State.
•In addition to Georgia State and Stetson, Carver has already faced Kennesaw State, Appalachian State, Wofford, Austin Peay, North Alabama, Charleston Southern, The Citadel, McNeese State, Presbyterian, Georgia Southern and Liberty.
