Another Quick Turnaround as Hatters Visit USF on Tuesday

Stetson men's basketball returns to action, 5 p.m., Tuesday, when the Hatters visit USF in Tampa. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

The Hatters (0-3) suffered their third straight loss on Sunday when they dropped an 86-40 decision at Florida. Rob Perry led the Hatters with 13 points, while Chase Johnston chipped in with 10. Fellow freshman Keith Lamar grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Johnston and Perry are tied as Stetson's leading scorers at 13.3 points per game.

USF (2-2) hasn't played since securing a 76-57 win over FGCU on Dec. 2. The Bulls' game with Florida A&M last Friday was cancelled after due to COVID-19 issues within FAMU's program.

Senior guard David Collins leads USF in both scoring (12.3) and assists (3.7).

Under the Hat
•Stetson and USF are meeting for the 28th time on Tuesday, in a series which dates back to 1971.
•While USF has controlled the series, owning a 20-7 advantage, the last five meetings have each been decided by nine points or fewer.
•Through their first three games, the Hatters are shooting less than 33 percent from the field, and 29 percent from 3-point range
•Tuesday's game is the third straight road contest for the Hatters, but all three have come within the state of Florida
•The Hatters have used three different starting lineups in the first three games as head coach Donnie Jones searches for the right combination. Eight different players have started games so far this season. Only Mahamadou Diawara and Rob Perry have started each game.
•Freshman point guard Stephan Swenson was one of the few bright spots for the Hatters on Friday at Miami, dishing 8 assists without a turnover in 25 minutes off the bench.
•Freshman Chase Johnston has scored in double figures in each of Stetson's first three games. He currently leads the team in scoring (13.3).

Up Next
After three straight road games, the Hatters return home to face Florida College, 7 p.m., Thursday.
