Hatters Rally Past UTSA

DeLAND--Stetson got back in the win column on Wednesday with a 5-2 win over UTSA at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
The Hatters (8-5) clawed their way to the doubles point before showing more grit in winning four of six singles matches against the Roadrunners (7-7).
 
After UTSA opened doubles play with a 6-1 win on Court 2, the Hatters rallied. Vicky Geurinckx & Noa Cohen captured a 6-2 victory on Court 3, and Danel Ashirova & Lucie Renault clinched the point with a 6-4 win on Court 1.
 
UTSA once again opened the scoring as play moved to singles, getting a quick win on Court 5. The Roadrunners followed that win with a victory on Court 1 and suddenly had a 2-1 lead.
 
But the Hatters rallied. Renault dispatched her opponent on Court 2 for a 6-0, 6-4 win, and Laia Pasini regained the lead for Stetson with a 6-4, 6-4 win on Court 6.
 
Noa Cohen clinched the team victory for the Hatters with a 7-5, 6-1 win on Court 4. Brooke Milner closed the day with a 7-5, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (2) win on Court 3.
 
The Hatters next host East Tennessee State, 10 a.m., Monday, March 16 at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
