Hatters Sign Six Newcomers

Stetson women's tennis head coach Travis Sandlant announced today the assigning of six-student athletes for the 2020-21 academic and athletic year.
 
The new recruiting class consists of three transfers, two international freshmen and one Floridian. The signees are: Elodie Foster (Kurwongbah, Australia), Anais Gabriel (Geneva, Switzerland), Daliyah Hammoud (The Hague, Netherlands), Alma Johannson (Stockholm, Sweden), Tess Mentgen (The Hague, Netherlands), and Victoria Ramakrishnan (Tampa, Fla.).
 
"We have a very talented and experienced recruiting class this year," Sandlant said. "It's going to be great to see this team compete. The depth of our program will be at an all-time high. The competition level is going to be of a very high standard."
 
Elodie Foster · Kurwongbah, Australia (University of Tulsa)Foster
  • Transfer from the University of Tulsa where she spent her freshmen season
  • Played exclusively in doubles for the Golden Hurricane, going 5-5 in the spring while playing mostly at the No. 3 position
  • Ranked as high as 83 in Tennis Australia women's rankings as an amateur
  • Won multiple gold and silver medals at AMT tournaments in Australia
  • Owns a top 100 ITF junior victory
 

Anais Gabriel · Geneva, Switzerland (Keiser University)Gabriel
  • Transfer from Keiser University in West Palm Beach, Fla., where she spent her freshman and sophomore seasons
  • Earned NAIA All-America honors as a freshman after helping lead the Seahawks to a national runner-up finish
  • Finished her freshman season ranked No. 4 by the ITA
  • Won a total of 46 singles matches in two seasons
  • Ranked No. 16 in Switzerland as a junior player
  • Earned a No. 40 overall national ranking in her home country
 

Daliyah Hammoud · The Hague, Netherlands (Mouratoglou Tennis Academy)Hammoud
  • Enters Stetson as a freshman
  • Trained at the world famous Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in France
  • Holds a 3/6 ranking in France
 



Alma Johannson · Stockholm, SwedenJohansson
  • Enters Stetson as a freshman
  • Ranked as high as No. 14 in Sweden
  • Reached the finals of the Ahus Summer Tour
 



Tess Menten · The Hague, Netherlands (San Jose State)Menten
  • Transfer from San Jose State, where she spent her freshman season
  • Will be a sophomore at Stetson
  • Was 2-4 in singles and 4-0 in doubles for the Spartans
  • ITF junior ranking of 1242
  • Doubles finalist at J5 in Denmark and West Africa 
  • Finalist at Netherlands national championship under 12's
  • District champion in the Netherlands at 16
 

Victoria Ramakrishnan · Tampa, Fla. (Berkeley Prep)Ramikrishnan
  • 2020 graduate of Berekely Preparatory Academy in Tampa
  • Florida Doubles State Finalist 2018
  • 3-time regional champion (2017, 2018, 2019)
  • 50th Anniversary Service Scholar Award Winner
  • Rhodes College Book Award
  • Scholastic Art National Gold Medalist/American Visionary Award
