Hatters Host Liberty This Weekend

After three weeks away, Stetson men's basketball returns home this weekend when the Hatters host defending ASUN Conference champion Liberty for a pair of game at Edmunds Center, beginning 7 p.m., Friday.
 
The Hatters and Flames will also meet at 5 p.m., Saturday. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
 
Stetson (3-5, 1-1) split a pair of games last weekend at North Alabama, the Hatters' first conference action of the season.
 
Rob Perry led Stetson to an 86-77 win in the opener against the Lions, scoring 29 points and tying a Stetson record with 8 3-pointers.
 
The Hatters and Lions battled into overtime the next night, before UNA escaped with a 73-66 win.
 
Liberty (11-4, 3-1) swept preseason No. 9 Kennesaw State last weekend in Lynchburg, Va. Junior guard Darius McGhee leads the Flames in scoring at 14.5 points per game.

•After nearly a month away, the Hatters return to the Edmunds Center this weekend for a pair of ASUN Conference games with defending league champion Liberty
•Stetson and Liberty meet this weekend in a matchup of the ASUN preseason Nos. 3 and 2 picks.
•The Hatters and Flames last meet in the 2020 ASUN Tournament semifinals in Lynchburg, Va., with the Flames taking a 66-62 victory.
•Senior Christiaan Jones has scored in double figures in each of his last four games. Since Stetson's Dec. 15 defeat of Florida Atlantic, Jones is averaging 14.5 points per game.

•Sophomore guard Rob Perry tied a school record last Friday at North Alabama by making 8 three-pointers in Stetson's 86-77 victory. Perry now shares the record with Luke Doyle (vs. Florida Tech, 12/30/15) and Alex Urosevic (vs. Eckerd, 11/29/89).
•The Hatters continued their recent run of strong 3-point shooting in last weekend's games, making 12 and 10 shots, respectively, from beyond the arc against UNA. In 8 games this season, Stetson has reached double-digit 3s five times, including each of the last 4 games. The Hatters are averaging 9.4 made 3-pointers per game in '20-21, up from 5.5 a season ago.
•Sophomore Wheza Panzo (.600) leads the ASUN in 3-point percentage, while redshirt freshman Chase Johnston is tops in the league in 3-pointers per game with 3.4. Johnston ranks 13th nationally. The Citadel's Kaiden Rice leads the nation at 4.9 made per game.
•The Hatters out-rebounded the ASUN's top rebounding team (North Alabama) twice last weekend, holding a +8 rebounding margin in two games.
