Hatters Make Weekend Trip to Bellarmine

Stetson men's basketball continues ASUN Conference play this weekend when the Hatters visit league newcomer Bellarmine for a pair of games, Friday and Saturday, in Louisville, Ky. Both games will be available on ESPN+.

The Hatters (4-6, 2-2) and Knights (5-5, 2-2) are currently tied in the middle of the ASUN standings as the league schedule reaches the midway point. Stetson split a pair of home games with Liberty last weekend, while Bellarmine swept a series at FGCU.

Stetson's Christiaan Jones led the way in last Friday's win against Liberty, with 21 points and 10 rebounds. It was the senior guard's first career double-double, and he is now 85 points shy of 1,000 for his career.

For Bellarmine, senior forward Ethan Claycomb was named ASUN Player of the Week after averaging 16 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the two wins at FGCU.

Under the Hat
•These will be Stetson's first games in the state of Kentucky since Northern Kentucky was a conference member from 2012 to 2015. The Hatters last played in the Bluegrass State on Feb. 14, 2015 in Highland Heights.
•Hatter coaches Donnie Jones and Adam Williams have ties to Kentucky. Jones played collegiately and later coached at Pikeville (Class of '88), while Williams began his playing career at the University of Kentucky before finishing up playing for Jones at Marshall.
•Sophomore Wheza Panzo (.524) leads the ASUN in 3-point percentage, while redshirt freshman Chase Johnston is tops in the league in 3-pointers per game with 3.0.
•Senior guard Christiaan Jones needs 85 points to become the 36th player in Stetson history to reach 1,000 career points.
•Freshmen Josh Smith and Stephan Swenson started each game last weekend against Liberty as both Mahamadou Diawara and Joel Kabimba were unavailable. Diawara is expected to return this weekend.
