Hatters close out regular season at FGCU

Fort Myers, Fla. -- The Stetson University women's soccer team gets set for its final regular season match of 2021 as the Hatters travel to Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, Oct. 23 for an ASUN Conference Eastern Division match up. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
 
Recap
Stetson comes off a 1-1 two-match stretch in which the Hatters fell 2-1 to Kennesaw State back on Oct. 14 as Chloe Washington scored the lone Stetson goal. Three days later on Oct. 17, Washington played the hero as the sophomore scored twice, including the game-winner in a 3-2 win over Jacksonville on Senior Day. 
 
Scouting the Eagles
FGCU comes into Saturday night's match with a 9-7 overall record and 6-2 in ASUN action. Like the Hatters, FGCU also comes off a two-match stretch in which the Eagles fell 1-0 to JU back on Oct. 14 and then topped Liberty 1-0 on Oct. 17. 
 
Louise Lillback leads the Eagles with 10 goals and 20 total points on the year as she has started in all 16 matches for FGCU. Alyssa Abbondandolo is second with three goals and two assists while Olivia Lindstedt has three assists and five points. Eagles keeper Katie Sullivan has a .762 save percentage, an 8-5 record and has recorded seven shutouts on the season. 
 
All-Time Series
Saturday's match will be the 17th all-time meeting between the two programs as the Eagles lead the series with a 14-1-1 record against the Hatters. The last meeting between Stetson and FGCU came back on April 2 as the Eagles got the best of the Hatters in a 1-0 match. On Saturday, Stetson looks to end its current four-match losing streak to the Eagles. 
 
Hatters Notes
The Hatters come into Saturday's match with a 6-9-2 overall record and are 3-4-1 in ASUN action, good for fifth in the East Division standings. Washington and Jackie Fiacco are tied for the team lead in goals, each having four on the year. Fiacco leads in points with nine, just one ahead of Washington's eight. Freshman Kyleigh Thelen and Lea Alexander each have three assists and four Hatters, including Alexander have a pair of goals as Alexa LoBasso, Georgia Place, and Evie Wysong have all scored twice. Hatters keepers Sarah Grimmett and Ashleigh Wise have split time between the pipes for Stetson. The pair come into Saturday night's match with three shutouts apiece while Grimmett has a .816 save percentage and Wise has a .689 save percentage 
 
Looking Ahead
The 2021 ASUN Conference women's soccer championship begins on Friday, Oct. 29 with the quarterfinal round.
