Women's Basketball Announces 2021-22 Schedule

Hatters To Play Three Non-Conference Tournaments

DeLand, Fla. – Thirteen regular season home games plus two neutral site tournaments and non-conference road games at Miami, Furman, Holy Cross, and USF highlight the 2021-22 Stetson University women's basketball schedule, which was released on Tuesday.

"I think after last year's schedule and the challenges it created, it's good to be back to normal," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "We travel quite a bit this year, and I think that's good for us. I like that we're playing in an MTE. Playing three games against three very good opponents really prepares us for the postseason.  Overall, our strength of schedule is very good. The variety of teams we see in non-conference play will help prepare us for conference."

WBB ScheduleThe Hatters will tip-off the season at home on Nov. 9 against Johnson University. It will mark the first ever-meeting between the two schools.

Stetson will play seven straight games on the road beginning Nov. 14 at Miami.  The Hatters and Hurricanes will be meeting for the first time since the 2014 WNIT opening round game, which Stetson won 70-63.

Next, Stetson will face Fairfield and Manhattan at the ASUN/MAAC Challenge, Nov. 19-20, at ESPN Wide World of Sports.  Manhattan joined Stetson as one of eight WBI participants last spring.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, the Hatters will travel to Katy, Texas for the Van Chancellor Classic.  Stetson will face Louisiana-Monroe, St. Joseph's (PA), and Old Dominion in the three-day event held at the Merrill Center.

Stetson will conclude the seven-game road swing at Furman on Dec. 4.  The Hatters and Paladins will square off for the first time since 2009.

Stetson returns to the Edmunds Center for a Dec. 6 contest against Florida National.  Then it is back on the road for games at Holy Cross on Dec. 12 and USF on Dec. 15.

Stetson will welcome Tennessee State and VCU to DeLand on Dec. 17-19 for the 34th Annual Hatter Classic, a perennial holiday tradition at the Edmunds Center.  The Hatters' final tune-up before conference play will come against Flagler College at home on Dec. 31.

The ASUN schedule will once again feature 16 games but with a new format.  The league's 12 teams, including newcomers Central Arkansas, Jacksonville State and Eastern Kentucky, are split into two six-team Divisions, The Hatters will play fellow East Division teams twice and teams from the West Division once.

The Hatters open ASUN play at home vs. Liberty on Jan. 5.  Other home opponents include Kennesaw State (Jan. 15), FGCU (Jan. 19), Bellarmine (Jan. 27), Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 29), Jacksonville State (Feb. 9), Jacksonville (Feb. 17), and UNF (Feb. 26).  ASUN road games include contests at UNF (Jan. 8), Jacksonville (Jan. 12), North Alabama (Jan. 22), Lipscomb (Feb. 3), Central Arkansas (Feb. 5), FGCU (Feb. 12), Liberty (Feb. 19), and Kennesaw State (Feb. 24).

The 2021 ASUN Championship will feature all 12 teams, four rounds and will be played on campus sites with higher seeds having home court advantage.  The title game will be played on March 13.

Head Coach Lynn Bria begins her 14th season at the helm of the program.  She holds a record of 232-178.  The Hatters (10-15 in 2020-21) have made 10 postseason tournament appearances in the past 11 seasons.
