Preview
Stetson (6-5) will host the 34th Annual Hatter Classic this weekend at the Edmunds Center. The three-day event will begin Friday when Stetson and VCU square off at 11 a.m.  VCU and Tennessee State will face off at 1 p.m. Saturday.  The Hatters will then host Tennessee State at 11 a.m. Sunday. Both Stetson games will be broadcast live on ESPN+. 

Tickets 
Tickets start at just $7 for each game of the tournament and can be purchased online or at the Edmunds Center Box Office. Stetson students, faculty, and staff are admitted free with ID. Fans are invited to wear their favorite Christmas Sweater to Sunday's game. 


All-Time Series - 42nd Meeting
VCU and Tennessee State each lead the all-time series 1-0 over Stetson. VCU defeated Stetson 63-60 defeated Stetson 63-60 in DeLand on Jan. 15, 1986 (36 seasons ago). Tennessee State defeated Stetson 56-50 in DeLand on Dec. 20, 2016.

Last Time Out
Stetson battled toe-to-toe for the better part of 35 minutes with 16th-ranked USF, but the Bulls pulled away down the stretch for a 69-50 victory Wednesday afternoon in front of 2,847 fans at the Yuengling Center. The Hatters outscored the Bulls in the first and third quarters, including a 7-0 run to start the game.  Tatiana Streun scored her 1000th career point on a 3-pointer late in the first quarter. 

Point Guards Stepping Up
Making her first start of the season Wednesday, Tippy Robertson scored a season-high 12 points against USF.  She scored the first five points of the game to help stake Stetson to a 7-0 lead.  Kiya Turner also reached double figures with a season-high 11 points.  "I thought those two were excellent," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said after the game.


Home Sweet Home
After playing nine of its first 11 games on the road, the Hatters will begin a four-game homestand on Friday.  After the Hatter Classic, Stetson will host Flagler on Dec. 31 and Liberty on Jan. 5.

Home Cooking
► The Hatters are 2-0 at home this season, averaging 109.0 ppg
► The Hatters are 60-9 (.870) over their past 69 non-conference home games
► The Hatters are 116-27 (.811) over their past 143 home games


Overall Defense
The Hatters have held eight of their 11 opponents to under 60 points this season.  ODU, Holy Cross and USF are the only teams to score 60+ points against Stetson.  At 52.5 points allowed per game, Stetson's defense ranks second in the ASUN and 19th in the NCAA.  

Rebounding Improvement
After ranking last in the ASUN in rebounding last season, the Hatters have made major strides in that area.  Stetson currently ranks fifth in the league in rebounding (37.9 rpg) and second in rebound margin (+6.2). The Hatters have outrebounded seven of 11 opponents, and are 6-1 in those games.  

First Half Story
In Stetson's first 11 games this season, the team leading at halftime has gone on to win 10 times.  In fact, only three games have featured second-half lead changes: Fairfield, Manhattan and Old Dominion.  The come-from-behind win over Manhattan was the only time a team leading at the half did not go on to win the game.

Hatter Classic History
  • The Hatters have been hosting the Hatter Classic since 1981
  • The Hatters are 20-5 in the Hatter Classic under head coach Lynn Bria
  • Stetson went 0-2 last year with losses to UAB and Abilene Christian
  • TSU will be making its second Hatter Classic appearance. The Tigers went 2-0 in 2016.  VCU will be competing in the Hatter Classic for the first time.
The Head Coach
Head Coach Lynn Bria is in her 14th season with the Hatters and 27th season overall. The all-time winningest coach in program history, Bria holds a Stetson record of 238-183. She is nine wins away from 400 career.
