Hatters Downed by Georgia State

 
Stetson men's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to Georgia State in a marathon match, Sunday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
Four of six singles matches went three sets on Sunday as the teams battled for nearly 4 hours in mid-80s temperatures under sunny and clear blue skies.
 
The Hatters (2-4) lost the doubles point as the duo of Sven Thiergard & Linus Bergevi recorded a 6-4 triumph on Court 2, but the Panthers (5-5) prevailed on the other two courts for an early 1-0 lead.
 
Georgia State extended its lead to 2-0 with a win on Court 1, before Tim Genes got the Hatters on the board with a 6-4, 6-4 victory on Court 5.
 
Georgia State won the next three singles matches, clinching the team victory with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 win at Court 4.
 
Josh Laka sent the Hatters home on a high note with a 6-3, 6-7, 7-5 win on Court 6, his second win of the weekend.
 
Stetson next begins ASUN Conference play when the Hatters host Kennesaw State, 3 p.m., Friday.
