Hatters Drop Match at FGCU

Fort Myers, Fla. – The Stetson women's tennis team never got things going their way on Saturday, falling to FGCU 7-0 in ASUN Conference play.
 
The Hatters fall to 6-6 overall with the loss, 1-2 in league play. FGCU improved to 4-4, 2-1 in the ASUN.
 
The Eagles quickly earned the doubles point, winning 6-3 at No. 1 and 7-5 at No. 2. The third matched was unfinished, ending at 5-5.
 
In singles play the Eagles won all six matches in straight sets. Anais Gabriel put up the best battle at the No. 1 spot, falling 6-2 in the opening set before fighting to a 7-5 score in the second set against Maja Ornberg.
 
"We were out competed today," Stetson coach Travis Sandlant said. "We are going to have to be willing to work harder for a longer period of time."
 
The Hatters will be back in action at North Florida next Saturday at 11 a.m.
