Hatters Host Jacksonville For Senior Weekend

Preview
The Stetson Hatters will play their final two home games of the 2020-21 season this weekend when they host the Jacksonville Dolphins.  Tip-off at the Edmunds Center is set for 1 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday with live coverage on ESPN+.  Attendance is limited to player pass list only.

What's at Stake
Two Stetson wins would put the Hatters in strong position for the 5 seed for the ASUN Championship.

Senior Weekend
The Hatters will honor seniors Tonysha Curry, Maria Visone and Megan Vincent prior to Saturday's game.

All-Time Series
Stetson leads the all-time series 28-18 over Jacksonville. The Hatters are 15-6 against the Dolphins at the Edmunds Center. The teams have traded season sweeps over the past four years, with Stetson sweeping in 2017 and 2019 and Jacksonville sweeping in 2018 and 2020.

Last Time Out
Yazz Wazeerud-Din hit the 20-point mark for the fifth time this season, but Liberty defeated Stetson 66-55 Sunday afternoon at Liberty Arena. Stetson trailed by six in the second quarter when a run three consecutive 3-pointers gave the Hatters a 6-point lead. Jamiya Turner nailed the first two and Tippy Robertson followed with a third triple as Stetson owned a 34-31 lead at the break. Wazeerud-Din scored 20 points with six rebounds in 38 minutes of action.  Kiya Turner netted 11 points to extend her double-figure scoring streak to six games.  Megan Vincent also scored 11 with three blocks.  

700/600 Club
Megan Vincent is looking to become the 17th player in school history with 700+ points and 600+ rebounds. She is 10 points shy of the 700-point mark and already has 605 rebounds.

Scoring Leader
Yazz Wazeerud-Din has scored in double figures in 11 of 12 ASUN games, averaging 16.9 ppg. That ranks fourth-best in the ASUN. She has posted five 20+ point scoring games, all within the past nine games, including 30 points vs. North Alabama, 22 vs. FGCU, 22 vs. Lipscomb, 20 vs. Kennesaw State, and 20 vs. Liberty.

Pickpocket
In addition to her scoring ability, Yazz Wazeerud-Din has been one of the team's top defenders as well. She leads the ASUN in total steals (45) and steals-per-game (2.4). In ASUN games, she also leads the league in total steals (34) and steals-per-game (2.4).

Stepping Up
Sophomore Kiya Turner has scored in double figures in six straight games. She is averaging 14.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.5 steals during that stretch, while shooting 53 percent from the floor and 50 percent from the arc.

Home Sweet Home
Jamiya Turner is averaging 13.8 ppg at home this season.  She has scored in double figures in all nine of her home games. 

Three-Point Shooting
So far this season, Stetson is averaging 7.3 3-pointers-per-game. That total ranks 74th in the NCAA. The school record for a season is 6.7.

The Head Coach
Head Coach Lynn Bria is in her 13th season with the Hatters and 26th season overall. The all-time winningest coach in program history, Bria holds a Stetson record of 229-175 (.567). 

Under the Hat
  • Megan Vincent is just 10 blocks shy of 200 in her career
  • Stetson has won 87 consecutive games when scoring 74 points or more (4-0 this season)
  • The Hatters are 5-1 when leading at the half and 5-1 when scoring 70 points or more
  • Stetson has outscored its opponents by 21 points in second halves and overtime this season
