Hatters Downed by Jacksonville in ASUN Quarterfinals

Stetson men's soccer fell to the Dolphins of Jacksonville in the ASUN Quarterfinals by a final score of 3-0, Saturday night at Southern Oak Stadium.

Jacksonville (5-4-1, 4-2-0 ASUN) controlled play for much of the contest. The Dolphins broke onto the scoreboard early – Jake Johnson opened scoring in the 16th minute off a feed from Olivier Correa. Correa added a goal of his own in the final minute before halftime with an assist from Alex Salvador.

Jacksonville's Reed Davis added one final goal in the 69th minute to cap the scoring.

The Hatters (1-5-2, 1-3-2 ASUN) finished the night with 10 shots. Ajmeer Spengler led the team with four shots. Head coach Emmett Rutkowski expects bigger things from his squad going forward.

"We put a lot of pressure on them. We were right there," Rutkowski said.  "Our immaturity showed tonight. Every day with us there are growing pains. Tonight was one of those days."

As the Hatters look towards next season, they face a quick turnaround with things returning to normal in the fall. Rutkowski is excited about his program's potential.

"I am really looking forward to seeing which guys really progress. We have a lot of really talented young individuals. I think we are going to be really dangerous once we have all of our pieces together."
