Hatters Sign Three Student-Athletes for 2021-22

Stetson welcomes Ayanna Dublin, Mali Morgan-Elliott and Haley Stinebrickner

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson women's basketball head coach Lynn Bria announced the signing Tuesday of Northeastern graduate transfer Ayanna Dublin, Toledo transfer Mali Morgan-Elliott, and Canadian freshman point guard Haley Stinebrickner.

The three student-athletes will join the Stetson women's basketball program for the 2021-22 season and all three will be immediately eligible to compete.

Dublin, a 5-10 forward, joins the Hatters following a four-year playing career at Northeastern University. A 41 percent shooter from the floor and 71 percent shooter from the line, Dublin averaged 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds for the Huskies. As a senior, she started all 20 games, averaging 6.7 points, 6.4 boards, and 3.2 assists per game.  She was also a two-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection during the 2019-20 season.

"Ayanna is graduate transfer who will add some athleticism and physicality for us, Bria said.  "She is really effective in the high post.  She can play with her back to the basket, she rebounds, and she plays hard.  She is strong and physical to where we can play her at the pivot. With her and Mali's experience and maturity, I anticipate that they will be really good for us right away."

Morgan-Elliott, a 5-11 forward, transfers to Stetson following two seasons at the University of Toledo. She played in 51 career games with the Rockets, scoring in double figures eight times.  This past season, Morgan-Elliott started all 24 games, averaging 7.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.  She shot 35 percent from the floor and 29 percent from the arc while registering 21 assists and nine steals.  A team captain, she was named to the Dean's List in the Fall of 2020.

Morgan-Elliott was a four year varsity starter and scholar athlete during her career at Wayne High School and Kettering Fairmont High School in Ohio.  She was a two-time all-conference selection including a first team honoree in 2019. She will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Hatters.

"Mali is someone we recruited out of high school and we are excited to have her," Bria said. "She has good size, good versatility. I think she can be really effective in our conference. She is going to help us in a lot of ways.  We can step her out, we can post her up.  She can rebound, which we really need. I am glad she can play right away. That is going to be huge for us."

Stinebrickner, a 5-7 point guard, was named to the Team Ontario 17U provincial team and the 2020 Kia Nurse Elite 17U EYBL roster.  She made 120 3-pointers in 11th grade, including 10 triples in one game, and she shot 41 percent from the arc.  She was nominated for the Biosteel All-Canada Game and was selected to participate in the Best in Canada Prep All Star Game.  She also recorded the highest score in a 3-point shooting contest at the Hardwood Classic All Star Weekend.

"Haley is a point guard out of Canada who can really shoot it," Bria said.  "She has a nice stroke and just solid fundamentals in regards to passing the ball.  I like her quickness.  She is just going to be a real good point guard for us.  She plays in a great academy that has really prepared her for playing at this level.  I think she will come in and help us right away."

In 2020-21, Stetson made its 10th postseason appearance in the past 11 years.
