Hatters Add Three for 2021-22

Stetson welcomes Tatiana Streun, Khamya McNeal and Landyn Owens

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson women's basketball head coach Lynn Bria announced the signing Wednesday of Portland State graduate transfer Tatiana Streun (Belleview, Wash.), Syracuse freshman transfer Khamya McNeal (Milwaukee, Wisc.), and incoming freshman Landyn Owens (Ada, Okla.).

All three will join the Hatters for the 2021-22 season and will be immediately eligible to compete.

Streun, a 6-0 forward, comes to Stetson following five years (one redshirt year) at Portland State.  In 119 career games with the Vikings, Streun scored 885 points and pulled down 622 rebounds.  She was a three-time Big Sky Academic All-Conference performer and graduated with degrees in Finance and Marketing.

As a senior in 2020-21, Streun averaged 10.4 points and a team-leading 6.5 rebounds-per-game. She started all 25 games, scoring in double figures 15 times with five double-doubles. She registered a team-high 19 points to go along with seven rebounds and four steals in the Vikings' Big Sky quarterfinal game against Idaho State.

"We will only have Tatiana for one year, but I think she will make quite an impact," Bria said. "I love her maturity, and I really like her efficiency around the basket.  She fills a need that we have in regards to size.  She is also an incredible student and very strong academically. She will learn the system quickly, and I am very happy we got her."

McNeal, a 5-8 guard, joins the Hatters after one season at Syracuse University.  In 2019-20, McNeal averaged 18.7 pts, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists as a senior at Rufus King High School.  She led the Generals to back-to-back Milwaukee City Gold Conference Championships, and she was named Milwaukee City Gold Player of the Year, third team All-State, first team all-conference, and team MVP her senior year.

"We recruited Khamya out of high school," Bria said.  "We really wanted her.  It didn't work out then, but we are really happy to have her now.  She is a combo guard.  She can go to the point, and she can slide to the wing. She is very strong and very physical.  She can shoot it, and can she take you off the bounce."

Originally a signee with the University of Hartford, Owens comes to Stetson following a standout four-year career at Ada High School.  She scored over 1400 career points, the second-highest scorer in school history, and averaged 14 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists as a senior. The 5-8 guard earned All-State honors in 2021 from both the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association and the Oklahoma Coaches Association.

"We were fortunate to get Landyn," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "In addition to her skill set, she is a fierce competitor. She really gets after it. I loved watching her play. I really like her versatility: she can do everything, and I think she is going to get even better."

Streun, McNeal, and Owens join Ayanna Dublin, Alyssa Hargrove-Hall, Mali Morgan-Elliott, and Haley Stinebrickner as Stetson newcomers for the 2021-22 season.
