Dad Vail Regatta Enforcing No Spectator Policy

PHILADELPHIA – The 2021 Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta, presented by Independence Blue Cross, Coca Cola and PECO, scheduled to be held on the Schuylkill River on Saturday, May 8, has put in place a no spectator policy due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and this policy will be strictly enforced.

The Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta will be live streamed so spectators will be able to follow the action at the most prestigious intercollegiate rowing event in the country. The live stream can be viewed from our website www.dadvail.org.

"We truly value all of the fans of intercollegiate rowing, as well as the families of the student-athletes competing for their fine institutions at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta." Organizing Committee President Jim Hanna said. "With that said, due to the current health concerns in the city of Philadelphia as well as our nation we will not be allowing any spectators at this year's Regatta.

"If it is determined that a team has spectators in violation of our policy, that program will be immediately disqualified from the Dad Vail Regatta."

We know local match races have not enforced this to near the level that Dad Vail will. If our event is seen to have spectators, subsequent regattas will be canceled. We are not going to allow that to happen. Your fans must stay home and watch the live stream or your athletes are going to be extremely disappointed when they get disqualified.

The Stetson men's rowing team is scheduled to compete in the Dad Vail on Saturday with the Varsity 8 set to race in an opening heat at 10:20 a.m. against Temple, Michigan and Delaware. The Hatters are scheduled to race in a second heat at 11:20 a.m. against Adrian, George Washington, St. Joseph's, Bucknell and Coast Guard. Championship races are scheduled to be held on Saturday afternoon.

All of the competition during the Dad Vail Regatta will be live streamed through the event's web site.
