Alumni Spotlight: Kirk Labusch

Today we continue our Alumni Spotlight series with former Hatter Kirk Labusch. Labusch is a 2009 Stetson University graduate. He earned First Team ASUN All-Conference honors and was an ASUN All-Academic Team selection during his time with the program.

1. Why Stetson?
I was born and raised in Tampa, Fla. so I wanted to stay in Florida relatively close to home, all while playing Division I soccer. Academics was also a priority and I heard nothing but fantastic things about Stetson prior to attending. Looking back, I am 110% satisfied in my decision to attend Stetson and play soccer there all four years.

2. How did Stetson Men's Soccer prepare you for your career?
Between the countless practices, study halls, traveling for days on end, and demand playing division 1 soccer entails, it brought on traits and skills I never knew I possessed. It required you to be organized, dedicated, adapt to change quickly, overcome adversity, etc. These are all things that later translated into my banking career and have allowed me to excel in my profession and life in general. Being a Roland George Investments Program alum also helped :)

3. What is your favorite Stetson Men's Soccer memory?
My favorite soccer memory definitely has to be winning the programs first conference tournament championship and playing in the NCAA's. I still vividly remember the conference championship game against Campbell and occasionally will wear the ring while I am out and about. I could go on and on about the fantastic memories and experiences I will cherish for the rest of my life as a result of being a Stetson Men's Soccer alumni.
