Hatters Players Having Productive Summer

The Stetson University baseball program is known for success on the diamond in the spring, and for producing players who go on to successful careers at the professional level.

Part of the reason for those successes is the dedication of the players in the program to improving their level of play. That dedication includes for many of the players spending their summers away from home, playing baseball in the numerous collegiate wood bat leagues around the country.

At least 21 of the players expected to report to campus in August for the start of the fall semester are currently playing baseball.

That list includes six players who are competing in the prestigious Cape Cod League and another seven who are playing in the Northeast Collegiate Baseball League. Here is a look at the members of the Stetson program who are playing, or have played, in various leagues this summer.

Cape Cod League
  • Four-year starter Kyle Ball is spending his summer in Hyannis as a member of the Harbor Hawks. With a week left in the regular season, Ball has played in 27 games and is hitting .212 with four doubles and nine RBI.
  • Redshirt sophomore catcher Christian Pregent has played seven games with the Brewster Whitecaps, but has been out of action since July 2.
  • One of the newest Hatters, outfielder Cam Hill, has played in six games for the Cotuit Kettlers, hitting .375 in those games. Hill is a transfer to Stetson from the University of Kentucky.
  • Another former Wildcat who will join the Hatters in 2022 as a graduate transfer is Trae Harmon, a first baseman from Somerset, Ky. Harmon is playing for the Orleans Firebirds this summer and has posted a .324 batting average in 12 games with two doubles, a home run and seven RBI.
  • Redshirt junior relief pitcher Danny Garcia has appeared on the mound in two games for the Falmouth Commodores, recording a pair of strikeouts in three innings of work.
