Hatters return home to square off against Embry-Riddle

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University men's soccer team returns home to the ATC Tuesday night as the Hatters take on NCAA Division II Embry-Riddle. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Recap
Stetson comes off a four-match road trip in which the Hatters went 0-2-2 after a trip to Charleston, S.C. then a two-match stint in North Carolina. In their most recent match against USF, the Hatters fell 3-1 after an early red card forced Stetson to play a man down for much of the match. Sophomore Ajmeer Spengler provided the only goal for the Hatters off a free kick in the 67'.

Scouting the Eagles
Embry-Riddle is currently 1-2 on the year as the Eagles opened their season with a 3-1 win over Southern Nazarene on Sept. 4 but have lost two in a row Flagler on Sept. 7, 3-2, and to Georgia Southwestern State, 3-0, on Sept. 11.

Teddy West leads the Eagles with two goals scored in three matches played. Three Eagles are tied with one goal each as Sandro Henning, Jake Joyce, and Amit Libgot have each scored once. Thomas Loesel, the Embry-Riddle keeper, has made 11 saves and has allowed seven goals thus far.

All-Time Series
Tuesday's meeting between the Hatters and the Eagles will only be the second time the neighboring schools have faced off. The first meeting between Stetson and Embry-Riddle was back on Sept. 10, 1993 as the Hatters routed the Eagles 12-0 at home.

Hatters Notes
Oliver Bryneus continues to lead the Hatters with three goals and seven points on the year, but with his goal against USF, Spengler is now second with two goals scored and four points. Three other Hatters have each contributed a goal as William Suaut, Gabriel Toro, and Alex Turner have each scored once while Maxime Allione and Gio Rodriguez have each provided an assist.

Looking Ahead
After Tuesday's match against the Eagles, Stetson remains at home as the Hatters open ASUN conference play on Saturday, Sept. 18 against Liberty University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
