Hatters fall to Campbell in season opener

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University women's lacrosse team fell 19-8 to Campbell University Saturday afternoon at the ATC in the Hatters 2022 season opener. 

Stetson's day looked promising as the Hatters (0-1) were in the driver's seat early in the first quarter. A Camden Frissora goal put the Hatters in front 1-0 and then sophomore Saige Roe followed suit with a goal of her own at the 10:27 mark. Just under three minutes later, Katie Kornacki found the back of the Camels net on an assist from Jessica Duggan to extend the Stetson advantage to 3-1. The Camels (1-0) ended the quarter with seven straight goals and took a 9-3 lead. 

For the remainder of the contest, Campbell continued to find the back of the Stetson net but in the final period, the Hatters offense came to life and scored five goals late. It was to no avail as the Hatters fell 19-8.

Frissora finished the afternoon with a hat trick for the Hatters. 

The Stetson lacrosse team will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 17 as the Hatters host Niagara University at 7 p.m. at the ATC.
