Hatters drop both games on Saturday at Eastern Kentucky

The two teams will complete the ASUN series on Sunday at 1 pm

RICHMOND, Ky. - The Stetson University softball team lost both ends of its ASUN doubleheader on Saturday at Eastern Kentucky, dropping a heartbreaker 4-3 in extra innings to start the day and then fell 11-0 in the nightcap at Gertrude Hood Field.

Marissa Baxter and Brianna Clary led the Hatters offensively, as Baxter knocked in all three runs for Stetson in the first game, while Clary had a pair of hits in each game to give her a team-high 11 multi-hit games this season and also scored twice in the first game.

Baxter gave Stetson a 2-0 lead in the top of the third, hitting a two-RBI double that plated Clary and Alyssa Gilman. However, the Colonels tied the game in the home half of the third and then took a 3-2 lead in the fifth.

It was Clary and Baxter again in the top of the seventh that helped send the game into extra innings. Clary singled then scored an another double by Baxter to make it 3-3.

Stetson (14-22, 4-4 ASUN) will look to salvage a win in the series finale' on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 pm.
