Hatters Fall in Series Finale at FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Stetson was unable to deal with the potent Florida Gulf Coast offensive attack on Sunday, dropping the series finale to the Eagles 15-1.

Sophomore Cole Stallings started on Sunday, striking out eight FGCU hitters over 4.1 innings of work, but he allowed eight runs on eight hits as the Hatters fell to 18-21 overall on the year, 5-13 in ASUN play. FGCU improved to 26-14 on the year, 11-7 in conference play.

Stetson managed just seven hits against five FGCU pitchers. Joey Mugavero (3-1) worked the first six innings and allowed the only Stetson run, a solo home run by Brandy Hylton in the fifth inning. The other six hits came from Cameron Hill, Yohann Dessureault and Kyle Ball, who each had two in the game.

FGCU's offense was led by Alejandro  Figueredo and Alejandro Rodriguez. Figueredo had five hits, including two doubles and a homer while driving home five runs and scoring four. Rodriguez had four hits, including a pair of homers, and drove in five runs while scoring three.

The Hatters will be back in action on Tuesday night in Coral Gables against No. 5 Miami (31-9) before return home to Melching Field next weekend for a three-game ASUN series against Liberty.
