KENNESAW, Ga. -- Homestanding Kennesaw State added four home runs to their weekend total against Stetson pitching, leading the Owls to a 14-3 series-clinching victory over the visiting Hatters.
The Owls (30-22, 17-10) hit a total of 11 home runs at cozy Stillwell Stadium in the three-game series. Stetson fell to 23-27 overall on the year, 8-19 in ASUN play with just four games left on the 2022 schedule.
Kennesaw State threw their pitchers in reverse order, with closer Jared Rine (4-0) getting the start and starter Brayden Eidson pitching the final four innings for his first save. Stetson managed just seven hits off the duo, who allowed just one earned run.
Sophomore Cole Stallings (5-5) started and took the loss for the Hatters, allowing five runs in just an inning-plus of work. He was followed on the mound by sophomore Jonathan Gonzalez for three innings (three runs on five hits), junior Tanner Martin for a third of an inning (three runs on two hits), junior Brett Neilan for two and two-third (three runs on four hits) and freshman Cooper Smith for one inning (no runs on one hit).
Sophomore Yohann Dessureault had two hits and scored a run to lead the Hatters while senior Cameron Hill had a double and scored..
Hill led the way offensively for the Hatters, going 1-for-4 in the ballgame with a double and a walk. Freshman Yohann Dessureault put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-4.
The Hatters will continue in their quest to earn a spot in the ASUN Tournament with four games on the schedule this week. Stetson will travel to Tampa on Tuesday to look for revenge against USF for last week's extra-inning loss in DeLand before hosting Jacksonville Thursday, Friday and Saturday to close out the year.
