The Hatters fell to the Mavericks in Omaha Sunday night, 80-88.

Stetson came out of the gates hot, outscoring Omaha 13-3 in just over three minutes of play. The Mavericks would cut into the Hatters lead. The lead would get down to two when a jumper from
Aubin Gateretse would push it back to four. The score was soon tied at 19 with Omaha shortly taking the lead.
Stephan Swenson would answer with a three tying the game back up at 22. Omaha would hit both their free throws on the next possession before
Jalen Blackmon would give Stetson the lead back on a shot from beyond the arc. From there the teams would trade baskets until
Alec Oglesby would beat the halftime buzzer for three to give the Hatters a slight lead at the half, 41-38.

The Hatters came out in the second half and increased their lead to six on a three from Blackmon, after the teams traded baskets for the first four minutes. With under thirteen minutes to go in the game Omaha erased that lead and tied the game at 57. In four minutes, the Hatters found themselves now down ten to the Mavericks. Stetson would be able to cut the deficit to five but wasn't able to complete the comeback falling 80-88.

Blackmon and Swenson scored over 20 with Blackmon having the edge putting up 26 on 8-16 form the field and 3-5 from beyond the arc.
Alec Oglesby was the third highest scorer for the Hatters scoring 18. The three guards combined for a perfect 18-18 from the free throw line. Swenson also led the team in rebounds with 6 and Gateretse tallied two blocks. As a team, Stetson hit on 43.3% of their shots and 41.7% from beyond the arc.Â

The Hatters will now return to the Sunshine State to take on Florida International Tuesday Dec. 19 at 7pm.
