DeLAND, Fla. – Stetson forward
Jaelyn Talley was named Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon, after leading the Hatters to their third win of the season and helping the Hatters remain unbeaten at home by earning a 56-48 win over Morgan State.
Talley is the first Hatter to earn a weekly honor this season from the ASUN. This is her first career ASUN Player of the Week award and the 73rd all-time honor for the Hatters and first since Yazz Wazeerud-Din (Feb. 15) during the 2020-21 season.
A sophomore from Fairfax, VA., Talley dominated the paint in the win over the Bears on Sunday afternoon. She scored nine points while snagging 14 rebounds in the 1-0 week for Stetson. She also added two steals and an assist to her stat sheet. Her 14 rebounds tied a season-high, which she set at High Point earlier this season. Talley went 4-of-8 from the floor with six of her 14 rebounds coming on the offensive side.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Hatters will stay home as they prepare to host North Carolina A&T and Valparaiso for the Holiday Hoops Classic from Tue-Wed. Both games are scheduled for 11:00 AM with the Aggies being schedule for Tuesday and the Beacons for Wednesday. Both will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available at gohatters.com.
